What is an interesting fact about you?

“I love hiking and go as frequently as possible. Last time I went hiking, friends and I camped as well, where a large black bear stole our butter and chocolate unabashedly.”

What opportunity are you excited about this coming year?

“I think I am most excited about the opportunity to connect with other Scholars and work alongside them on projects or research they are passionate about. After meeting all the Scholars when attending Accepted Students Day, and hearing from them individually about their interests and applications, I was amazed to hear about all the incredible and unique things they were each passionate about, and I continue to be excited about being surrounded by such a diverse and intellectual group. I love meeting new people and being a Scholar is one more way for me to connect with others and diversify my interests and knowledge.”

What’s something you can’t leave home without?

“For the past few years, I’ve been jotting down three things about each day in a notebook. It’s become an easy way to put my experiences in perspective and remember important moments. I won’t be forgetting to take it to Wake Forest with me.”

Christi Llewellyn | Queens, NY
Carswell Scholar

What opportunity are you excited about this coming year?

“I am most excited about being an active community member on campus and getting involved with Wake’s student body, especially the Black student body, through going to events held by BSU and the LGBTQ+ center. So in other words, I am enthralled by the prospect of being in an entirely new social sphere with entirely new people with new experiences, different opinions, and different orientations towards living. I want to cultivate a tight-knit friend group where we can do everything from talking about respectability politics over coffee to kekeing at 1AM about drama.
