Udall Undergraduate Scholarship
The Udall Undergraduate Scholarship identifies future leaders in environmental, Tribal public policy, and health care fields. The Udall Undergraduate Scholarship honors the legacies of Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall, whose careers had a significant impact on Native American self-governance, health care, and the stewardship of public lands and natural resources.
Deadlines
- Pre-Application: Oct 20
- WFU Nominee Application: Feb 10
- Letter of Recommendations: Feb 12

Who Should Apply?
- Students who are working towards positive solutions to environmental challenges or to issues impacting Indian country.
- Students who have demonstrated their commitment to one of these areas through public service.
- Students who inspire and motivate others to take action.
- Students who have committed to making a difference through civility, integrity, consensus, nonpartisanship, and public service.
- Currently a sophomore or junior;
- Students must have completed at least 3 semesters of college coursework (AP and college credits taken while in high school do not count).
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. permanent resident.
- Students applying for Tribal Policy or Native Health Care must be Native American or Alaska Native. For purposes of the Scholarship Program, a Native American or Alaska Native is an individual who is:
- U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents who are members of either State- or Federally-recognized Tribes;
- Descendants of U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents who are members of either State- or Federally-recognized Tribes;
- Those considered by the Secretary of the Interior to be an Indian for any purpose; and
- Alaska Natives.
- Students applying for Tribal Policy or Native Health Care must be Native American or Alaska Native. For purposes of the Scholarship Program, a Native American or Alaska Native is an individual who is:
- Working towards positive solutions to environmental challenges or issues impacting Indian country.
Wake Forest may only nominate four students in the environment category and four students in the Tribal public policy and health care fields category. Interested applicants must submit a Pre-Application, a transcript, and a resume to the selection committee, which will determine which students move forward as nominees each year.
